Guitar virtuoso Richard Thompson has been confirmed to headline Thursday night of the Larmer Tree Festival.

Named by Rolling Stone Magazine as one of the Top 20 Guitarists of all-time, Richard is a creative and critically acclaimed songwriter who has been awarded with a much sought after Ivor Novello Award for Songwriting. Richard Thompson made his debut as a recording artist as founding member of 1960's pioneering group Fairport Convention.

He has since had an extensive solo career that encompasses a back catalogue of over 40 albums. He has just completed a tour of show 1,000 Years of Popular Musi. Richard's performance at Larmer Tree will be of his solo work.

Other acts joining Richard Thompson on the Thursday include Dreadzone, Rich Hall aka Otis Lee Crenshaw, The Velvet Hearts, Tinderbox, and Urusen, plus more to be announced. Day ticket price for Thursday (including parking and camping) is only £29. Youth and child concessions are also available.

Larmer Tree happens from Wednesday 15th until Sunday 19th July at Larmer Tree Gardens, on the Wilts./Dorset border.

The headliner for the Saturday is still to be confirmed. The acts confirmed for 2009 include Jools Holland and the Rhythm & Blues Orchestra with Dave Edmunds playing on the Wednesday. Other artists include Shantel & Bucovina Club Orkestar (headlining the Friday), The Imaged Village (headlining Sunday) Pama International, Tinderbox, The Travelling Band, Mawkin:Causley, Hobo Jones & the Junkyard Dogs, Edward II, The Ukulele Orchestra Of Great Britain, and more. Tickets are now on sale, priced at £177 for 5 days, £144 for 4 days, £115 for 3 days, and day tickets priced at £37 to £57 dependant on day. To buy online, click here. The ticket price includes camping for the night(s) of the date(s) of a ticket. Tickets have sold out for the past 14 years.
