The first names have been announced for Hammerfest a new festival for metal fans run by the people put on Hard Rock Hell and the metal magazine Metal Hammer. Hammerfest will take place on Friday 24th and Saturday 25th April, 2009 at Pontins Holiday Camp in Prestatyn, North Wales and will feature more than 50 metal bands taking the stage across six arenas.

The first acts confirmed for Hammerfest have been announced, Welsh metallers Bullet For My Valentine, will be headlining the two day event with support from Saxon, Hammerfall, Skindred, Cathedral, Alestorm, Grand Magus, Sabbat, TYR, Exit Ten, Annotations Of An Autopsy, Trigger The Bloodshed, and Dream Evil, with a further 35 metal acts still to be added to the line-up.
