Britpop rockers Oasis have announced a large stadium tour for next summer including two shows at Wembley Stadium.

At a press conference in front of Wembley's arch, Noel Gallagher this afternoon revealed the tour dates, which include shows in Manchester, Sunderland, Edinburgh, London, Cardiff, and Dublin. Noel also announced at the press conference that the support acts would be The Enemy, and Kasabian.

These will be the band's first shows at the new Wembley Stadium, having filmed their live DVD 'Familiar to Millions' at the old venue in 2000. The Manchester dates at Heaton Park coincide with the centenary of the first music event in the Manchester City Council owned family park. Although this is the first headline appearance at the legendary Slane Castle, Oasis did perform there in 1995 as guests of REM.

The band are presently on a sold out tour of the UK, (which includes two nights at Wembley Arena) which saw all 180,000 tickets sell out as quickly as phone lines and internet sites could process applications.

At the press conference guitarist Noel also suggested the band were unlikely to play any festivals this year, making the rumour of them playing at the Isle Of Wight Festival very unlikely to be true.

Noel also repeated his attack on the line-up choices for Glastonbury Festival at the press conference unveiling his band's 2009 tour by asking whether R-Kelly would be performing there next year. When asked whether Oasis' plans included playing Glastonbury, he replied: "I think that when Michael Eavis reads this press release he'll shit himself. I wouldn't bother to play Glasto. Here is where it's going to be at next summer. Would you go? Why, is R Kelly playing? I've said before we wouldn't play there again."

The stadium tour dates are as follows:
Saturday 06 June 2009 Heaton Park, Manchester
Sunday 07 June 2009 Heaton Park, Manchester
Wednesday 10 June 2009 Stadium of Light, Sunderland
Friday 12 June 2009 Millennium Stadium, Cardiff
Wednesday 17 June 2009 Murrayfield, Edinburgh
Saturday 20 June 2009 Slane Castle, Dublin
Saturday 11 July 2009 Wembley Stadium, London
Sunday 12 July 2009 Wembley Stadium, London

Tickets for these shows go on sale on Friday 24th October at 10.00am, and eFestivals will have links available to buy them then.
