The Future Sound of London have been announced as the first confirmed act for 2009. FSOL achieved major chart success with their album 'Papua New Guinea' and are often namechecked as one of the most influential electronic music acts of all time, Brian Dougans and Gaz Cobain have not played a show as The Future Sound of London for over ten years.
FSOL play live in their studio, connected via ISDN to a video bank on stage. They get a live feed straight back from the audience allowing them to monitor and adapt to the crowd's reaction.
BLOC Weekend has also confirmed that it has moved from its previous home at Pontin's Holiday Park in Norfolk to Butlins Holiday Camp, Minehead. The new site offers self-catered heated chalet accommodation, with ensuite and are equipped with beds, kitchen, showers and all mod cons.
Butlins, Minehead looks out across a sandy beach. The site is equipped with a supermarket, newsagent, cash points and restaurants. Onsite facilities include a Splash Water World - a sub-tropical environment that has a wave pool, a swimming pool, 3 flumes and also a flume based raft ride, plus ten-pin bowling and an amusement arcade.
Tickets for BLOC weekend are priced at £125 per person and bookings are done per chalet. Tickets have to be bought in groups of 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7 according to the size of the apartment wanted. 'Self-Catering' apartments have a kitchen and a separate living room, and 'Room-Only' apartments do not. To buy tickets, click here.
