acts announced for BBC Electric Proms' Africa Express

There's been a host of acts announced to play alongside the previously confirmed Amadou And Mariam at the Africa Express night of the BBC Electric Proms festival which happens from Wednesday 22nd October at the Koko in London.

The acts who have announced they will be performing on this special event where African bands collaborate with Western artists include Baaba Maal, Johnny Marr, Magic Numbers, The Aliens, Foals, Bassekou Kouyate & Amy Sacko, Mehdi Haddab, Rachid Taha, Toumani Diabate, Muntu Valdo, Oumou Sangare, Get Cape Wear Cape Fly, Souad Massi, Daara J Family, and Pete and the Pirates.

There are also many more acts who are keeping their appearance on the night a secret. the show will be broadcast on Radio 1 and on the BBC's red button from 11pm until 4am on the night.
The Magic Numbers

Over 60 acts will be playing as part of the 2008 BBC Electric Proms - including performances from Burt Bacharach, Keane, XX Teens, and Africa Express in London and Razorlight, Milanese, Last Shadow Puppets and Tony Christie in Liverpool. For the line-up details as available please

The shows will be broadcast across BBC Radio and TV as well as via the red button. Complete performances will also be available to watch online at bbc.co.uk/electricproms.

BBC Electric Proms festival happens from Wednesday 22nd to Sunday 26th of October in London, and for the first time this year venues in Liverpool as well. The venues for the Liverpool part of the event are the Philharmonic Hall, Barfly and BBC Radio Merseyside. In London, shows will return to venues across Camden including the Roundhouse, Barfly, KOKO, Dingwalls, Proud Galleries, and the Electric Ballroom. The festival features separate line-ups in the two cities.
