Finnish metallers Wintersun are to play at next year's Bloodstock Open Air which will take place from Friday 14th until Sunday 16th August at Catton Hall, Walton-on-Trent, South Derbyshire.

This will be Wintersun's only appearance on these shores in 2009, and will coincide with the band's long awaited new album tentatively entitled 'Time' which is due for an August 2009 release. Wintersun is the new high energy project of singer and multi instrumentalist Jari Mäenpäa, who recently left his former band Ensiferum.

The only other band so far confirmed for next year is Swedish metallers Sabaton. The aim of this, the fifth Bloodstock Open Air festival, is to offer a traditional heavy metal music festival comparable to those regularly seen in Europe (but on a smaller scale of 6,000-10,000 capacity), which captures the spirit of the original Monsters Of Rock shows which used to take place at Castle Donington during the 1980's and 1990's.

As well as the international heavy metal bands across three stages, Bloodstock offers a large selection of merchandise stalls, metal karaoke, a campsite and a wide selection of food and bars.

Early bird tickets are on sale priced at £85 for adults and £35 for children. To buy tickets, click here. In December the price will increase.
