The original cut 'n' paste mavericks Coldcut have been added to the line-up for this year's BBC Electric Proms festival which happens from Wednesday 22nd to Sunday 26th of October. This year as well as taking place at various venues in London, the festival will also be held for the first time at venues in Liverpool as well.

Coldcut
Coldcut will be helping to celebrate the legacy of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop with a very special night. The Radiophonic Workshop was the place where the Doctor Who theme was created and whose sounds have inspired a legion of electronic music producers.

Gideon Coe hosts a panel discussion at London's Freedm Studio on the evening of Saturday 25th October with very special guests to discuss the methods and creativity of the Workshop's output. After the discussion Coldcut will perform a live DJ mix incorporating classic Radiophonic Workshop compositions with live sampling of the original gear, in an evening devoted to the pioneers of electronica.

A FREE ticket ballot is the only way in which tickets are given away and registration has now opened. Those successful will receive a free pair of tickets for this event. For more details, or to buy tickets for any other BBC Proms event (where available) click here.

Over 60 acts will be playing as part of the 2008 BBC Electric Proms - including performances from Burt Bacharach, Keane, XX Teens, and Africa Express in London and Razorlight, Milanese, Last Shadow Puppets and Tony Christie in Liverpool. For the line-up details as available please

The shows will be broadcast across BBC Radio and TV as well as via the red button. Complete performances will also be available to watch online at bbc.co.uk/electricproms.

The venues for the event are in Liverpool - the Philharmonic Hall, Barfly and BBC Radio Merseyside. In London, shows will return to venues across Camden including the Roundhouse, Barfly, KOKO, Dingwalls and the Electric Ballroom. The festival features separate line-ups in the two cities.
