Africa Express is an initiative that has taken Western musicians to Mali and the Congo, and brought African musicians to perform collaborations at Brixton, Glastonbury, Liverpool - and now the Electric Proms. Previous performers who have taken part in Africa Express events include Franz Ferdinand, Amadou and Mariam, Damon Albarn, Baaba Maal, Fatboy Slim and Tony Allen.
Africa Express will be appearing at London's Koko on Wednesday 22nd October. Tickets are now on sale for this performance.
Over 60 acts will be playing as part of the 2008 BBC Electric Proms - including performances from Burt Bacharach, Goldfrapp, Keane and Chaka Khan in London and Razorlight, Last Shadow Puppets and Tony Christie in Liverpool.
Tickets are on sale, to buy them click here.
The shows will be broadcast across BBC Radio and TV as well as via the red button. Complete performances will also be available to watch online at bbc.co.uk/electricproms.
The venues for the event are in Liverpool - the Philharmonic Hall, Barfly and BBC Radio Merseyside. In London, shows will return to venues across Camden including the Roundhouse, Barfly, KOKO, Dingwalls and the Electric Ballroom. The festival features separate line-ups in the two cities.
The idea for this event is to allow artists to perform something a bit different, whether it be a performance of rare tracks, a unique collaboration or a cross bridging of genres.
