BBC Electric Proms announces Goldfrapp, Razorlight, and Saturday Night Fever

plus more including The Last Shadow Puppets, Maddy Prior, The Streets, and Keane

The BBC Electric Proms festival which this year takes place at various venues in London, and Liverpool from Wednesday 22nd to Sunday 26th of October 2008 has announced the acts for the festival and that tickets are now available.

Confirmed artists announced include Burt Bacharach with BBC Concert Orchestra, XX Teens, Wild Beasts, Chaka Khan, Laura Iziboe, Goldfrapp, The Streets, Keane, Maddy Prior, Nitin Sawhney, and the London Undersound Orchestra, Chase and Status, Bashy, Ny, Saturday Night Fever, with Robin Gibb, Sam Sparro, and Sharleen Spiteri, Red Light Company, Amazing Baby, Micachu, Tony Christie, Milanese, Rolo Tomassi, 2 Hot 2 Sweat, The Last Shadow Puppets, Razorlight, Kitty Daisy and Lewis, Thomas Tantrum, Esser, Wave Machines, and The Maybes?.

The venues for the event are in Liverpool - the Philharmonic Hall, Barfly and BBC Radio Merseyside. In London, shows will return to venues across Camden including the Roundhouse, Barfly, KOKO, Dingwalls and the Electric Ballroom. The festival will feature separate line ups in the two cities.

The idea for this event is to allow artists to perform something a bit different, whether it be a performance of rare tracks, a unique collaboration or a cross bridging of genres. More than 80 artists are to appear at the BBC Electric Proms 2008 and each performance will aim to create a new musical experience.

Wednesday 22nd October:
Roundhouse main stage: Burt Bacharach with BBC Concert Orchestra
Roundhouse Freedm studio: XX Teens, Wild Beasts, and New Music Shorts (films*)
Dingwalls: Chaka Khan, Laura Iziboe
Cecil Charp House: Goldfrapp

Thursday 23rd October:
Roundhouse: The Streets
Koko: Keane
Cecil Charp House: Maddy Prior

Friday 24th October:
Roundhouse: Nitin Sawhney and the London Undersound Orchestra
Barfly: Chase and Status, Bashy, Ny

Saturday 25th October:
Roundhouse: Saturday Night Fever with Robin Gibb, Sam Sparro, and Sharleen Spiteri
Barfly: Red Light Company, Amazing Baby, Micachu

Liverpool:
Wednesday 22nd October:
Tony Christie will be playing on the Royal Daffodil Ferry.

Thursday 23rd October:
Philharmonic Hall: Milanese, Rolo Tomassi, 2 Hot 2 Sweat

Sunday 25th October:
BBC Radio Merseyside's Dave Monks will introduce sets from Wave Machines and The Maybes? in the station's performance space.

*The BBC Electric Proms has also commissioned three new BBC New Music Shorts for 2008. Film makers were invited to submit ideas for inventive and original short films inspired by tracks from Roots Manuva, XX Teens and Wild Beasts earlier this year. The three successful commissions will be premiered at the BBC Electric Proms with performances from both XX Teens and Wild Beasts.
