Wizard Festival adds The Dykeenies

and Scottish festival adds a raft of local bands to the line-up

Scotland's Wizard Festival which takes place at Peterhead, Aberdeenshire have been completing their line-up of acts for the festival which runs from the Friday 22nd until Saturday 23rd August.

The latest act confirmed for the festival are The Dykeenies, the Scottish five-piece, made up of three brothers and two of their childhood friends, create an indie rock sound with undertones of new wave. Festival organiser Roy Thain said, "Adding a band like The Dykeenies to our bill at this stage has been a major boost for us. We have been working hard to get the whole bill for the three stages finalised and it feels like we are definitely there."

The festival has also announced a raft of local bands, to complete the line-up of acts that will be playing at the festival. They include Amy Sawers Velvet Audio, Gunslinger, Kashmir Red, Liars Dice, Lady Mercedes, The Little Kicks, The Manikees, Le Reno Amps, Bundy, and completing the line-up is Roots System who are are from Fife, and Amber Wilson from Orkney.

Roy Thain commented, "This is our full line up to date. It feels so good to get it complete and out there. It is starting to get really exciting now that the last few weeks are here and the build up has started. We have been selling lots of tickets and it looks like we are on schedule to have lots fans attending the festival."

Wizard have also confirmed more arena entertainment, joining the funfair, children's arena and roaming entertainers will be the Wiltshire based Chai Chapel Drummers who will be running drumming workshops and hosting a tea and coffee cafe area.

The three stages Voodoo, Banshee and Acoustic Stages will welcome established headliners, emerging local bands and everything in-between. The first two nights headliners are confirmed as Supergrass, and the Damned on Friday and Alabama 3 on Saturday. Other acts include The Amigos, Dreadzone, McCusker/Drever/Woomble, Proud Mary, The Cinematics and Chris Helme with many more to come in the next few months. Located on a 50 acre site, on New Deer's Showground, The Wizard Festival incorporates a campervan park and tent campsite, food courts, shopping areas, a fairground, first aid & security village, ample car parking and plenty of portaloos!

After last year's success Wizard is set to return bigger and better. The three stages Voodoo, Banshee and Acoustic Stages will welcome established headliners, emerging local bands and everything in-between.

Adult weekend tickets are on sale priced at £65 - includes camping camping and parking from 1pm on Friday the 22nd to 12 Noon Sun the 24th and can be purchased here.
