The fifteenth T in the Park which took place at Balado, nr Kinross, Scotland last weekend from Friday 11th to Sunday 13th July ended in high spirits last night, despite news of a stabbing and a death on the site.

The fatality whilst tragic could have occurred at any event the size of T in the Park which housed a population of 80,000 over the weekend. In a crowd of that size the chances of someone becoming seriously ill is always a possibility.

The death of the 32-year-old man at the festival is not being treated as suspicious. It is thought to have occurred from an asthma attack and is the first on-site casualty in the festival's history.

The small amount of violence which might happen on a festival site is often caused by some festival goers bringing off site grudges with people known to them to the festival. However the knife attack doesn't appear to be one of those cases, instead it is indicative of things going on in wider society where things like this happen.

The incident which was the first stabbing in the festival's 15-year history marred what had been a relatively trouble-free weekend, with only seven arrests prior to the attack.

It was fortunate that T in the Park had a quick response medical team and a medical hospital on site and were able to treat the victim quickly. He is now reported to be in a stable condition in hospital.

eFestivals sends its best wishes to the victim of the stabbing, and our sympathies and thoughts are with the family of the the man who died.

Scotland's biggest music festival has on the whole been reported as running smoothly with only a small number of other minor public disorder and violence incidents.

The crowds at T in the Park enjoyed performances from The Verve, Rage Against The Machine, R.E.M., Amy Winehouse, and by the end of the event, more than 180 acts had performed across 11 stages.

eFestivals will have photographs, and reviews of the festival online shortly, as well as a specially created quality video of the event.
