Fans who wanted to buy tickets for The Solway Festival or Solfest had difficulty buying tickets on Monday 7th April when ticketing agency, tixmob was unable to cope with the demand as 2,000 or so festival goers tried to buy tickets on their opening day on sale.

The high demand for tickets, combined with technical teething difficulties, meant that some buyers had a lengthy wait when they attempted to buy Solfest tickets online and through the call centre.

But tixmob is saying sorry to both the fans and the festival organisers by funding an extra band at Solfest. Dreadzone will now be the final main stage act of the event on Sunday 24th August, which is held at Tarns, nr Aspatria, Cumbria over the bank holiday weekend of Friday 22nd to Monday 24th August.

"We believe that the real test of character is how people recover from their mistakes," says festival organiser Simon Kay. "We know that at the beginning of April a lot of people struggled to buy Solfest tickets from the tixmob website and call centre. We feel that these initial problems are now consigned to the past but, as it is the fans that make Solfest so special, we felt that any compensation should be passed directly onto them."

Simon spoke to eFestivals about the situation and added, "Tixmob are very keen to show that they are more than just a regular ticket agency and to this end they are compensating Solfest punters with the 'most asked for band'."

"We are delighted to support Solfest and their fans by sponsoring a top act like Dreadzone" says tixmob director, Ramesh Kumar. "We at tixmob love festivals and are delighted to help Solfest in such an unusual and innovative way."

Dreadzone join a line-up which includes Supergrass, Roisin Murphy, Alabama 3, The Bees, Chas & Dave, The Pipettes, The Duke Spirit, Oojami, Leslie Dowdall, Misty's Big Adventure, Global Kryner, Nizlopi, Tarras, The Sweetbeats, The Mordekkers, Stars Of Track And Field, The Black Velvet Band, and Ella Jarman-Pinto. There's also the Drystone Stage, the Dance Stage with Michael Dog, Subgiant, Digitalis, Mr Psik, Fulibulbus, and more, and the Bar Stager - for the line-up details to date please click here.

Solfest is a non-commercial music and arts festival with a warm atmosphere set between the Solway Firth and the Lake District mountains in picturesque West Cumbria, as always it features a massive range of musical and cultural adventures.

Solfest has something for everyone, with a main stage, the Dance Tent, the Dry Stone stage with many smaller acts, and a children’s area with workshops to amaze, educate and enthral kids and adults throughout the day.

The festival policy is "to appeal to four generations of people, from the tiny babies through to the great-grannies and great-granddads (and everyone else in between) and have them all partying together at the same time – and lovin’ it!"
