Waterboys to top the bill at Tartan Heart

According to the Scottish newspaper The Highland Times the singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Mike Scott will be bring his band Waterboys to Inverness-shire, Scotland and the Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival on Saturday. They are the latest act added to the line-up and join Scouting For Girls as the already confirmed headliner for Friday.

Also playing the festival are Scottish indie rockers Idlewild who headline the Hothouse stage on the Friday and seventies/eighties American psychedelic rockers Jefferson Starship.

The line-up is further bolstered by French nu-punk cover band Nouvelle Vague, ex Del Amitri founder Justin Currie, Edwyn Collins who is making a courageous return to festivals just two years after suffering devastating brain haemorrhages. Folk acts Rachel Unthank & the Winterset, Kathryn Williams and Lisa Knapp conclude the latest announcement of artists.

In Scottish newspaper The Highland Times, (here), festival director Joe Gibbs is quoted as saying, "In booking the Waterboys, we wanted to have an iconic band close to many people's hearts in the Highlands to run alongside the hugely popular Radio 1 & 2 favourites Scouting For Girls who have come so far in the year since they last played the festival."

Belladrum offers plenty of interest aside from the music over the weekend of Friday 8th and Saturday 9th August, including an array of entertainment for children. Attractions include street theatre, cabaret, cinema, dance, alternative therapies, stalls, food and drink.

Tickets are on sale, priced at £80 for 'early bird' for the weekend (includes parking and camping from 4 PM Thursday 7th to 1 PM Sunday 10th) or £50 for just Saturday (includes parking and camping from 9 AM Saturday 9th to 1 PM Sunday 10th). Children 12 and under enter free. Click here to buy.
