Cambridge Folk Festival has just announced an eclectic bill of acts heading for Cherry Hinton Hall Grounds, Cambridge between Thursday 31st July and Sunday 3rd August, featuring the best in contemporary folk and roots music.

The line-up includes an exclusive UK outdoor Festival appearance by singer k.d. lang, songwriter and guitarist Joan Armatrading, festival favourites the Levellers who are proudly celebrating their 20th anniversary and the terrific multi-cultural collective The Imagined Village.

Other artists include Billy Bragg, John Hiatt, Judy Collins, Allen Toussaint, Seth Lakeman, Eric Bibb, Eliza Carthy, Martha Wainwright, The Waifs, Altan, Peatbog Faeries, Tim O'Brien, Karine Polwart, Michael McGoldrick Band, Laura Marling, Bassekou Kouyate & Ngoni Ba, Tunng, Kila, Devon Sproule, Chris Wood, Cherryholmes, Brian McNeill, Mauvais Sort, Lisa Knapp, Hot 8 Brass Band, Beoga, Grupo Fantasma, Frank Turner, Whapweasel, Ross Ainslie & Jarlath Henderson, Elizabeth Cook, The Chair, 3 Daft Monkeys, Noah & The Whale, Jeana Leslie & Siobhan Miller, 6 Day Riot, Kidsamonium, Findlay Napier & The Bar Room Mountaineers, Megson, and The Shivers. There will be many more artists still to be added to the bill.

This festival has a prestigious reputation for quality music in intimate surroundings which means tickets always sell out very quickly and expect the same this year when tickets will go on sale on Sunday 11th May at 9am.

The music is much more than traditional folk and normally takes place as follows: Thursday 6pm-10pm; Friday 2pm-11.30pm; Saturday midday-11.30pm; Sunday midday-11pm. No acts are confirmed as of yet, although 3 Daft Monkeys and Billy Bragg (both solo and with Imagined Village) say on their websites they will be playing. We will have information of who is playing as soon as it becomes available.

The campsites (charge per tent, not per person) also provide their own friendly entertainment. There is also on-site entertainment for kids.
