The first names have been announced for the Friday at the Wireless Festival held in Hyde Park, London and taking place from Thursday 3rd to Sunday 6th July.

Former Smith's frontman Morrissey will play his only UK festival date headlining the O2 Wireless Festival on Friday 4th July. Morrissey could well treat fans to tracks from his forthcoming studio album due in the autumn. Joining him on the bill at Hyde Park will be Beck and The National.

Morrissey says, "I am honoured to be asked to headline on July 4th, marking my 26th year haunting British music, and following the Hyde Park greats - T.Rex, Joan Armatrading, and someone with insecure teeth. I promise a thundering bill of tight nerves and suavity and all your favourites from Disc magazine. I will take Hyde Park like a flea inhabits a dog. Art-hounds and people with badly cut hair are very welcome. I shall do my utmost not to pull a sour face. The sun will make up its own mind. It is, of course, the day when America celebrated its independence from Sidcup, but we can easily reverse that situation with a bit of John Mills stiff-upperness. Bring your own lodging-house towels, but don't expect any three-shrimp appetizers."

Saturday's line-up at Wireless includes the headliner Fatboy Slim, with Underworld, Bootsy Collins And The Rubber Band, Robyn, Does It Offend You Yeah?, Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip, Sam Sparro, and The Whip. Fatboy Slim has indicated that Mark Ronson will also be appearing.

They are the latest acts confirmed to join Sunday headliner Counting Crows at this year's O2 Wireless Festival. As previously reported Counting Crows, Powderfinger, Goo Goo Dolls, Ben Harper, Eddy Grant, Bowling For Soup and The Galvatrons are also billed for that day.

More acts are due to be confirmed shortly including the headliner for Thursday of Wireless.

Tickets for the Friday with Morrissey as headliner will go on sale this Friday 28th March and will be available at a special 'Early Bird' price of £40 for a limited period only. eFestivals will have the links available for you to buy them as soon as they are available.
