Trip hop innovators Massive Attack will be applying their creativity, influences and interests to the 15th Meltdown festival. The Bristol band have been announced as the Artistic Directors of the nine day unique event held at the Southbank Centre, London from Saturday 14th to Tuesday 24th June.

Each year Meltdown offers a guest director the chance to produce their own fantasy festival, mixing artists and art forms, and reflecting their own personal passions and interests.

Massive Attack are following in the footsteps of previous festival hosts John Peel, Robert Wyatt, Scott Walker, David Bowie, Lee 'Scratch' Perry, Morrissey, Patti Smith and Jarvis Cocker.

During Meltdown, Massive Attack will take over all 21 acres of the Southbank Centre, including the riverside, Royal Festival Hall and Queen Elizabeth Hall. The trip hop heroes will curate the event throughout the nine days with concerts, DJ sets, talks, films, and visual art all flavoured with their own strong political and visual elements.

The full line-up for Massive Attack’s Meltdown will be announced soon.
