Reading and Leeds to go ahead minus +44

By Scott Johnson | Published:

+44 have decided that writing their new songs is more important than playing their scheduled slots at this year's Reading and Leeds Festivals, which take place at the twin sites of Richfield Avenue, Reading and Bramham Park, Leeds over the August Bank Holiday weekend.

In a joint statement from the band members, they announced that they will be cancelling their entire European tour, and going back to the studio to begin recording the follow-up to their debut album, 'When Your Heart Stops Beating'.

The band commented "We want to start writing new songs and and we are really excited about the direction we have planned, so we're going into the studio instead of playing these few dates.

We hope our fans will forgive us for the cancellation; in the end, this will make for an even better live show when we come back.
"

As of yet there are no plans to reschedule any of their tour dates, which would have included shows in London, Bristol, Leeds and Wolverhampton, so you may have to wait a while before you get the chance to see +44 playing in the UK again. They will, however, be performing at Seattle's Bumbershoot Festival the weekend after Reading and Leeds takes place.

On the positive side, there are many acts who have been confirmed for the Reading and Leeds festivals, including headliners Razorlight, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Smashing Pumpkins - click here for the line-up details for Reading, and here for Leeds.
