... and another one gone, another one bites the dust

It's still just the beginning of May, and the seventh festival (that we're aware of - there might be more) planned for this year has been cancelled already.

The latest one is Freedom Rocks, that was planned to take place in Hull on 9th & 10th of June with headliners of Keane and Groove Armada. A message on their official website says "It is with great regret that Freewill Events has been forced to cancel the Freedom Rocks Festival due to delays, centering on funding, which have affected the cash flow and marketing of the event. Ticket holders will receive a full refund from point of purchase.".

The other already cancelled events have been cancelled for a claimed variety of reasons, such as licencing issues and lack of council support. While we've seen none saying that poor ticket sales is behind their decision to cancel, we suspect this is the underlying reason for some.

With a number of planned festivals still to make their first or headliner announcements, and some of them encountering difficulties in booking acts of suitable stature for the size of event they're hoping to put on, we expect the number of cancellations to grow some more before the summer is over.
