Van Morrison for Maryport Blues Festival

and more

By Neil Greenway | Published:

Van Morrison has been confirmed as the headliner for the 9th Maryport Blues Festival, which takes place at Maryport, Cumbria from Friday 27th to Sunday 29th July.

The festival features top international musicians from the US, UK, Australia and Italy performing the many types of music which falls under the blues umbrella encompassing zydeco, jazz, soul, rock in addition to the traditional blues genres of Chicago, texas, and delta blues.

Van Morrison will headline with his 11 piece band on the main marquee stage on the Saturday, while C.J. Chenier and his Red Hot Louisiana Band from the USA will headline the Sunday. The Friday headliner will be announced soon.

Also confirmed are James Hunter (UK), who'll perform on the Saturday, and The Holmes Brothers (US), Harper (Austrailia), Family Style (Italy), Blues n’Trouble (UK), Out of the Blue (UK), and Never the Bride (UK), with many more acts still to be confirmed.

Tickets will go on sale on Monday 16th April from Carnegie Theatre Box Office, Finkle Street, Workington (01900 602122) - the prices are still to be confirmed.

For the last eight years the main stage marquee has been next to the marina in Maryport. This year, due to construction work on this site, the main stage has been moved to the Netherhall Rugby Club grounds.
