By Neil Greenway | Published:

Download festival, which takes place at Donington Park from Friday 8th to Sunday 10th June 2007, has announced the names of their three headline acts.

Headliners on Friday night will be My Chemical Romance, with Linkin Park topping the bill on the Saturday and Iron Maiden closing the festival on the Sunday evening. More acts will be confirmed within the next few weeks.

Returning to Download to headline the Friday night will be My Chemical Romance. Guitarist Frank Lero has said, “Being asked to headline download festival was definitely a milestone in our lives...just two years ago we were playing the side stage...and now we're closing the main stage! A slot previously filled by Metallica, Guns N’ Roses and even Black Sabbath. These are legendary bands... so how do I describe that feeling? There really are no words to describe that honour. I just can't wait to play."

Linkin Park will top the the bill on the Saturday. Lead singer Chester Bennington commented, “Download is always awesome and the bands this year are going to be amazing. UK fans are some of the best in the world and we can't wait to see you!"

Closing the festival on Sunday evening is Iron Maiden who said “Our fans know that Donington is a special place for Maiden and we are all looking forward to getting back there for a fourth time.”

Tickets go on sale at 9am tomorrow (Wednesday 31st January) - we'll have links to buy when on sale. Tickets will cost £145 for the three days with camping, or £125 without camping. Parking will cost £6 for the weekend if booked in advance or £10 on the day, and campervan passes cost £40. Lockers will also be available, costing £6.

The campsite will open at midday on Wednesday 6th June and will close at noon on Monday 11th June.

Making a return in 2007 is the festival’s 24 hour entertainment zone ‘The Village’, which promises activities like LaserQuest and Human Table Football.

Now in it’s 5th year, Download has also opted to go environmentally friendly by encouraging a car sharing system, the use of recyclable cups, and vowing to spend £250,000 (the same amount it cost to clean up the site last year) to ensure that this year is produces less waste and is cleaner than ever before.
