Available to buy on 2-disc DVD format from July 17th is 'Glastonbury', a film by critically acclaimed director Julian Temple (Absolute Beginners, The Filth & The Fury).
The film is a tribute to the festival and is packed with footage following the founder of Glastonbury festival, Michael Eavis, who conceived this documentary in 2002. He was concerned that the festival might never again enjoy the success from previous years due to problems with licensing and security, and saw this as a possible last chance to record the events of the last 30 years. The film makers appealed to anybody with footage of the festival to come forward and contribute. Over 700 hours of film were supplied, both amateur and professional, shot over the 35 year history of the festival.
'Glastonbury' combines personal archive footage from festival-goers with live performances from some of the legendary acts to grace Glastonbury through the years.
The special features on the DVD include an interactive shuffle track feature that allows you to select all your favourite acts and performances, and revel in exclusive DVD footage of uncut performances including those by The Kaiser Chiefs, Fun Lovin Criminals, REM, Goldfrapp, and more.
There is also an exclusive commentary by Jarvis Cocker and director Julien Temple.
