Loopallu announces line-up

Hayseed Dixie, The Stranglers, Alabama 3 and more...

By Scott Johnson | Published:

Loopallu (That's Ullapool backwards for those thinking it's a rather odd name for a festival) has announced the first bands for the event taking place from Friday 22nd September to Saturday 23rd September in the Scottish Highlands.

Hayseed Dixie return for a second year, and will open and close the event. They will be joined by Friday night headliners The Stranglers. Other confirmed acts to date include Alabama 3 (performing unplugged), The Peatbog Faeries, The Family Mahone (featuring BBC Radio 2’s Mark Radcliffe), 18th Day of May and The Vatersay Boys. BBC Radio 2’s Janice Long will also be making a return as compere.

Robert Hicks, organiser of Loopallu commented "Due to local demand, Loopallu continues to go from strength to strength in 2006 with a wider-reaching music programme and additional satellite events taking place in venues around the village over the weekend such as creative workshops and smaller live music showcases. The atmosphere at Loopallu is quite unique and has built on the success of Ullapools reputation for attracting such international acts as Ash, Idlewild and the Super Furry Animals who provide a worthy testament to its impact and appeal."

Weekend-only tickets cost £40 plus booking fee. Children aged 12 and under enter free. Passes are still required for children aged 12 and under. Limited camping tickets are available at £10 plus booking fee. A range of hotel, B&B and backpacker accommodation suited for all budgets is available throughout the village.

Tickets are available from the following retail outlets: North West Outdoors and The Seaforth (Ullapool), Mania & HMV (Inverness), and Fired Art (Fort William).
