WOMAD, which takes place from Friday 28 to Sunday 30 July on the banks of the River Thames at Rivermead in Reading, Berkshire has announced some more acts for this year.

As part of over 70 artists from 30 countries performing over three days on seven outdoor and indoor stages, and the following are newly confirmed:- BONOBO (UK); DIMI MINT ABBA (Mauritania); ETRAN FINATAWA (Niger); MOUSSU T E LEI JOVENTS (France); NICKENS NKOSO & KASAÏ MASAÏ (Congo/Kenya/Tanzania); NINA VIRDEE (UK); ROBERTO PLA (Colombia); SE TIN TRIO (UK); SIYAYA (Zimbabwe); SPIERS & BODEN (UK); STELLA CHIWESHE (Zimbabwe); SUSANA BACA (Peru); THINK OF ONE (Belgium); TOP CAT (UK); and WANG KI SEOK (Korea).

The following cabaret acts have also been confirmed: CIRCUS FUDGE; DANIELA ZOCCHI; FAIR PLAY; FLING; FREEHAND JUGGLING; ROBERT WILDFELL; SWIZZLESHAKER and compere STEVE FAULKNER.

This is the first year that WOMAD Rivermead has had comedy, with the following comedians appearing in the brand new Little Big Top tent: AF HARROLD; AVA VIDAL; AYESHA HAZARIKA; FRANCESCA MARTINEZ; MARK THOMAS; SHAZIA MIRZA; STEPHEN K AMOS and compere JAMES CAMPBELL.

Another new feature of the festival for 2006 is a weekend programme of cinema. This will be presented in collaboration with the British Film Institute, featuring some comedy and music classics. The following films are confirmed so far: A Night at the Opera; Black Orpheus; Grease; Monsieur Hulot's Holiday; My Favourite Year and Some Like It Hot.

WOMAD offers more than just live music, with hundreds of participatory workshops for adults and children; late night dance, DJ's and grooves at 'Club WOMAD'; a brand-new Tri-Span stage; a spectacular sound and light experience on Thursday evening; the kids' procession; a traditional funfair; a weekend of shopping in the 'Global Village' with over 250 international food, drink, arts, craft and merchandise stalls - plus sumptuous site deco featuring hundreds of flags, projections, visual art & temporary structures, all adding to the anbience for the 27,000 attendees.

Tickets are on sale, priced at £100 for the first 5,000 tickets, and then £110. Day tickets cost £35 for Friday, £55 for Saturday, and £45 for Sunday.
