Charlatans and loads more for new festival in Kent

the Electric Gardens

By Neil Greenway | Published:

A new festival - Electric Gardens - is to take place at Mount Ephraim Gardens, near Canterbury, Kent (a family owned stately home with beautifully landscaped gardens amongst eight hundred acres of orchard, fields and woodland) on 5th and 6th of August.

Electric Gardens brings together some of the best bands around including The Charlatans, The Automatic, Larrikin Love, The Long Blondes, Scully, and The Fratellis, along with a roster of alternative dance acts including Cassius, Caged Baby, Layo & Bushwacka!, and Audio Bullys. For the full line-up details, see here.

Founded by promoter Marcus Wallis, Electric Gardens is a distinctly personal project. He says: “The name first came to me when I was walking through the gardens at this fantastic stately home near Canterbury - Mount Ephraim - and we were thinking of putting on the festival. As a massive Pink Floyd fan I remembered an event that Floyd had performed at, called the “Electric Garden” in the early 1970’s in Glasgow, and, having always liked the name, decided on it there and then. And with our event being set amongst the most beautiful landscaped gardens in the heart of England, and with the emphasis firmly on live forward-thinking as well as electronic music, the name “Electric Gardens” suddenly seemed very apt.”

Tickets are priced at a measly £20 for early buyers, rising to £30 nearer to the event. They go on sale at 9am tomorrow (Thursday 11th May), and we'll of course have links to buy at that time.
