Download Festival - which takes place from Friday 9th until Sunday 11th June 2006, at Donington Park, Leicestershire - has announced more acts to play across the weekend.

The newly confirmed acts are: Alexisonfire, All-American Rejects, Alice in Chains (with original guitarist Jerry Cantrell taking over the vocals from the late Layne Stanley), Alter Bridge, Bleeding Through, Coheed & Cambria, Engerica, Funeral For A Friend, Ginger & The Sonic Circus, God Forbid, Protest The Hero, SikTh, Throwdown, and Zebra Head.

They join the acts already announced, which include Metallica, Guns N' Roses, The Prodigy, Korn, Deftones, Trivium, Clutch, Bullet For My Valentine, Lacuna Coil, InMe, Within Temptation and Hatebreed. More acts will be confirmed over the coming weeks and months, to a full line-up of around 100 metal and rock bands over the three days. For details to date, click here.

The campsite will now open at noon on Wednesday 7 June and close on Monday 12 June at midday. In a change to previous years, the campsite’s entertainment area will be around the third stage and will run from when the main stage ends until 4:00am each day, and the brand new entertainment zone will run 24hrs from 6:00pm on Wednesday 7 June until 4:00am on Monday 12 June.

Tickets are on sale, priced at £115 for the three days, or £135 including camping and parking. Campervans cost £35, and parking is £5 in advance or £10 on the day. Click here to buy online now.

According to Download organisers, there are just a few Campervans tickets remaining, and camping space is now extremely limited.
