Abbeyfield Park festival bounces back

a new event after bomb scare

By Neil Greenway | Published:

Abbeyfield Park festival, which takes place in Sheffield, had to cancel their July event half way through due to a bomb scare, and had to evacuate thousands of people just prior to the main acts performing.

Due to support from all sectors of the community, and in particular the financial support to restage the event coming from the area Panel, Burngreave New Deal for Communities and the City Centre Community Cohesion pot, they've been able to put together a new event for Saturday 10th September.

Unfortunately July headliners Zion Train aren't able to return due to other commitments, but Celloman have confirmed to return to the event as special guests and a new headlining act has been found in the Baghdaddies. Other music acts performing on the day include local artists Zwakalafrica, the Nonstop CDP showcase and The Jamdown Runnings Crew.

The new event is scaled down to meet both the financial and time restrictions, with the main stage having the artists who did not get to perform, and the children’s entertainment area. In addition they'll be free market trading pitches to all those who either exhibited or traded on the July event and made a potential loss.

Admission is free and the day starts at 1pm and ends at 6pm. Celloman are on at 4pm and the Baghdaddies are on at 5pm.
