My Chemical Romance have had to re-arrange their preformance slots at the Reading & Leeds festivals so that they can attend the MTV VMA Awards in the USA on the Sunday, where they've been nominated for four awards.

They'll now open the Main Stage at Leeds on the Friday, and then travel to Reading to play their previously announced set on the NME/Radio 1 stage later in the day.

“While it was very exciting to be nominated,” says Gerard Way, “we really were in a tough spot. We hated when people cancelled shows for reasons other than health or family emergencies. So we decided to work with the promoter and try to pull both shows off on the same day. We are very happy it worked out and can’t wait to play. Reading and Leeds have been a dream of ours forever.”

This has been made possible with the help of Bullet For My Valentine who have been kind enough to switch slots. This means that Bullet For My Valentine will now play the NME/Radio 1 stage at Leeds on the Saturday (not the Friday as reported elsewhere), and the Main Stage at Reading on Sunday.

And it's been confirmed that Goldie Lookin' Chain are to return to the festival for a second time, to play the 'Special Guests' slot on the Main Stage at Reading on the Friday and Leeds on the Saturday.

Pulling out of Reading & Leeds entirely are Simple Plan who are replaced by Biffy Clyro, and Fall Out Boy who are replaced by From Autumn To Ashes.

The confirmed line-ups for both festivals include the headliners of Pixies, Foo Fighters, and Iron Maiden, along with The Killers, Kings of Leon, Marilyn Manson, Queens of the Stone Age, Razorlight, Incubus, and many more. For the full confirmed line-ups to date, click for Reading or Leeds.

Weekend tickets for both Reading and Leeds festivals are sold out, but some day tickets are available - click for Reading tickets or Leeds tickets.

Reading and Leeds festivals both take place from Friday 26th until Sunday 28th August, with Reading festival at Richfield Avenue, Reading, Berkshire, and Leeds festival at Bramham Park, Leeds, West Yorkshire.
