Reading increases capacity

5,500 extra tickets for Saturday and Sunday

By Neil Greenway | Published:

Reading festival has succeeded in getting the capacity of the event increased, with an extra 5,500 day tickets to be made available for the Saturday and Sunday.

This takes the capacity to 60,500 for the Saturday and Sunday, while staying at 55,000 for the Friday. Reading Council allowed the expansion because of a combination of traffic management plans and an extension of the festival site onto new land to ensure there is minimal impact on the local area and residents. Full details of how to apply for the tickets will be announced shortly.

Mean Fiddler MD, Melvin Benn said of the decision: "It is obviously great news. It's so good that Reading Borough Council continue to support the event to this level and their decision to allow these extra tickets means that an additional 11,000 people get to see their favourite bands at the world's best music festival."

The line-ups for both Reading and Leeds festivals include the headliners of Pixies, Foo Fighters, and Iron Maiden, along with The Killers, Kings of Leon, Marilyn Manson, Queens of the Stone Age, Razorlight, Incubus, and many more. The Reading and Leeds Festivals both take place from Friday 26th until Sunday 28th August, with Reading festival at Richfield Avenue, Reading, Berkshire, and Leeds festival at Bramham Park, Leeds, West Yorkshire.
