The first acts have been confirmed for WOMAD, which takes place at Rivermead, Reading, from Friday 29th until Sunday 31st July.

The major names are Richie Havens, Youssou N'Dour et le Super Etoile de Dakar, Afro Celt Sound System, Apache Indian & the Reggae Revolution, and other confirmed acts are Akim El Sikameya (Algeria/France), Carmelo Luggeri & Kiki Dee (UK), Darrell Scott (USA), Huun-Huur-Tu (Tuva), Jaojoby (Madagascar), Pama International (Reading, UK), Renegades Steel Orchestra (Trinidad & Tobago), Rizwan-Muazzam Qawwali Group (Pakistan), Totó La Momposina y sus Tambores (Colombia), and Yasmin Levy (Israel).

In total there will be over 70 artists from 30 countries performing over three days on seven outdoor and indoor stages. Many more artists will be confirmed over the next few months.

WOMAD also offers hundreds of participatory workshops for adults and children, late night grooves at 'Club WOMAD', the cabaret tent, a kids' procession, a small traditional funfair, and probably the best festival markets anywhere, for over 26,000 attendees.
