NASTY Reading success

By eFestivals Newsroom | Published:

ActionAid’s ‘Brand Nasty’ campaign was a huge success at the Reading Music Festival. Droves of celebrities and artists lent their support to get UK companies to behave ethically in poor countries.

Alex Kapranos from Franz Ferdinand, Sadie Frost, Pelle Almqvist from The Hives, Leo Ihenacho from The Streets, Mel C and Ian Watkins from Lost Prophets are just some of the stars at Reading who gave their support.

3,000 Reading revellers sent an action card to their MP demanding the government introduce laws to protect the rights of poor people in the face of corporate abuse.

ActionAid would like to thank the Mean Fiddler, DJs Peepshow Paddy and Del Gazeebo, visual artists, and the amazing volunteers who helped bring the campaign to life.

For the third year running ActionAid’s 1500 capacity tent offered comfy sofas, table football, giant Jenga and karaoke during the day. At night it stayed open till 3.00am, long after the bands had finished, with a mean line-up of NASTY DJs.

Brendan O’Donnell, ActionAid Campaign Manager says: “Reading was amazing. Thousands got involved in Brand Nasty. There was a great atmosphere in our tent and an excellent response to our campaign.”
