The Drummers of Burundi - who performed at the first ever WOMAD Festival in 1982, and have been cited as inspiration to The Clash, Echo & The Bunnymen, Joni Mitchell, Joan Baez, and Malcolm McLaren - have been added to WOMAD,which takes place from 23-25 July on the banks of the River Thames at Rivermead, Reading.

After performing in the Siam Tent on Friday afternoon, The Drummers Of Burundi appear on the Open Air Stage late on Saturday night, to be followed by award-winning Senegalese Hip Hop act Daara J whose fresh and instantly infectious style is delivered with impeccable artistry.

Other acts also newly confirmed are: Aayjemaal (Turkmenistan); Daby Toure (Mauritania); DJ Dolores (Brazil); Future World Funk (UK); Laye Sow (Senegal); Marsada (Sumatra); Moon Dogs (UK); The Suspects Soul 'n' Rhythm Revue (UK) and Wire Daisies (UK). More acts are still to be confirmed.

They join over 70 artists from 30 countries including: Luciano (Jamaica); Amparanoia (Spain); Daara J (Senegal); Dhol Foundation (UK); Sharon Shannon (Ireland); JJC & 419 Squad (Nigeria/UK); Nigel Kennedy and Kroke (UK/Poland); Rokia Traore (Mali); Sidestepper (Colombia/UK); Tinariwen (Mali); The Bays (UK); Jim Moray (England) and Señor Coconut (Germany/Denmark/ Venezuela). Tickets are priced at £95 for the whole weekend, and all weekend tickets include free camping. Day tickets cost £30 for Friday, £51 for Saturday, and £46 for Sunday. Concessions available. Families are entitled to savings as children aged 13 and under can come FREE if accompanied by an adult. As well as live music, WOMAD offers it's 26,000 visitors hundreds of participatory workshops for adults & children; late night grooves at 'Club WOMAD'; the cabaret tent; the kids' procession; a traditional funfair; great shopping in the 'Global Village' with international food, drink and merchandise stalls plus sumptuous site deco (flags, projections, visual art & temporary structures).
