exclusive! - BlackBud for Guilfest

and more...

By Neil Greenway | Published:

More acts have been confirmed for Guilfest, which takes place at Stoke Park, Guildford, Surrey from Friday 16th July until Sunday 18th July.

Added to the Uncut Aladdin's Cave Stage on Saturdy are BlackBud, Alistair Cowan, United Stoats Of America, and Richard John Thompson.

The Friday headliner for the Tropical Dance Tent has been confirmed as Adrian Sherwood On-U Sound System, who joins the previously announced Saturday headliner of Plump DJ's, and the Sunday headliner, Norman Jay.

And the line-up for the Cosmic Comedy Tent - which eFestivals is proud to sponsor - is now complete, with the addition of Karl Spain, Neil Delamere, and Alexis Dubus. For more on the Comedy Tent, see here.

Also new - for the Radio 2 Main Stage - is Eve Selis on Sunday. The festival is headlined by Blondie, Simple Minds, and UB40, and also features The Stranglers, The Damned, Katie Melua, Rickie Lee Jones, Tim Booth, Ocean Colour Scene, Femi Kuti, The Saw Doctors, the Levellers (acoustic), Beta Band, Steve Harley And Cockney Rebel, and many more. Tickets are on sale, priced at £32 for each day, £70 for all three days, and £80 with camping. Click on the link to the left of this page to see all ticket options, and to buy.

eFestivals are tipping BlackBud as a huge name for the future, and confess to first bringing them to the attention of the Guilfest organisers. However, making the booking has been purely the decision of Guilfest, who have themselves recognised the band's great potential.

BlackBud are currently causing quite a stir: they've won a slot on the New Tent at Glastonbury Festival this summer via a competition that 2,500 bands entered; nme last week ran a piece on them under the headline "is this the new Oasis" (but perhaps they could have thought of a more original headline, eh?); and major record companies are venturing out of London to check them out; you really should too, and they're at their very best live.
