FREE live music in Liverpool

By Neil Greenway | Published:

The Merseyside Coalition Against Racism & Fascism (MCARF) was established from a meeting of local TUCs, unions, students and church and community groups to fight racism and fascism and to ensure Merseyside remains a "Nazi Free Zone"

The launch of MCARF is with a FREE music event entitled "LOVE MUSIC HATE RACISM" on Thursday 27th November at the Barcelona Bar, Renshaw Street Liverpool. The event aims to bring people together from all backgrounds, regardless of race, religion or colour. Bands and artists with different sounds are uniting in the fight against racism and offer a vibrant celebration of our multi–cultural and multi–racial society.

The event starts with a Dry Bar for 13-17yrs from 5.30.p.m. to 8.30pm. and includes youth bands and artists from the Merseyside area. The line-up includes a mix of music styles and artists - Tiny Tin Lady, Imad Ali, Lucy Styles, Faye, Zuko, Fade 2, and Oqun. Everton and Liverpool Football Clubs have been invited to come along and speak to the youngsters on racism.

At 8:45pm, the doors re-open for the main event for over-18's. The line up for this includes The Bandits, The Shakti, Spacetrain, Majestic, Curtis Watt known as "CZERO", as well as DJs Spycatcha (of Radio City fame), Dom Chung (Chibuku) and Steve Parry (3Beat, Cream).

Music is proof that cultures can and do mix. The war against racism can be won by educating people at a young age. This is a music event staged by young people for young people.
