Mackey Desperate for own event

By Neil Greenway | Published:

Pulp bassist Steve Mackey is to host a new festival in December.

Taking place at Sheffield’s Magna Centre on 14th December from 7pm until 2am, the event has been conceived to inject some new life into the UK festival scene, which Mackey feels is stale and dead due to the monopolisation by the big name players (umm... hang on ... didn’t Pulp enjoy the monetary benefits of playing for those big boys at least twice this summer??).

There are four entertainment arenas, featuring a selection of leftfield electronic and rock talent, with the likes of Pulp (of course!), Röyksopp, Warp DJs, Lemon Jelly, John Peel, Chris Coco and of course Mackey & Cockers Desperate Sound System.

Tickets will be priced at £30, and go on sale next week.
