Dance party at Knebworth

exclusive!

By Neil Greenway | Published:

A spokesperson for Knebworth House today confirmed exclusively to eFestivals that an approach has been made to hold a dance festival in the grounds of Knebworth House. However, as everything is still in the initial stages, no contracts have been signed or licences given.

Knebworth has sent a mailshot to local residents to canvas opinion, from which no objections have been received. The site holds a running Public Entertainment Licence allowing it to stage festivals up to a threshold of 15,000 people without having to apply to the Council.

Negotiations are well advanced with the local Police authority (as this is where much expenditure is incurred), and providing all aspects are satisfied between the two parties it looks very likely that the licence to stage the event on August 11th & 12th will be granted. The application is expected to be received by the council later this week or early next week.

Although they would not confirm this when spoken to today, we believe this is to be a one off event to celebrate the 10th birthday of London "superclub" Ministry of Sound. It's expected the event will be for 100,000 people
