Y Not Festival describes itself as “Small, Fresh, Loud”. It is a small festival located in Pikehall near Matlock, in the Derbyshire Dales. It is indeed small, with the capacity at 8000. It started in 2006 as a gathering for a group of sixth form students in a quarry when their planned party at a parents house fell through due to the parents staying home. It features mainly unsigned and new bands, with a few headlining acts that are more well known.
