Wychwood review

By Scott Williams | Published:

One of the most different bands I’ve seen at festival, fronted by Monte Ruiz a woman in a black flamenco dress who sings with passion and backed by a driving band with Mediterranean gypsy guitar and a flourishing accordion. There aren’t a lot of people leaving this performance. The drumming just escalates and is added by Monte standing defiantly with a bodhran type drum to almost dance speed beats with Monte and the band a whirl on stage. Her huge voice and Tango-esque energy receive huge applause come the end.
