Wychwood review

If you’re a festival organiser and you want Gogol Bordello, but they are too expensive, get this lot, they too have Eastern European flavouring, dancers, they have fiddles and odd instruments and there’s loads of them and I bet they are a darned sight less expensive. Musically they sound similar but their voices are less punky/shouty. Bags of fun all the same! At one point on old bloke gets up and tells us about a Doctor’s quest for ‘Everlasting Death’ and it’s quirky and off the wall, as is the fiddle stage leaping and underpinning it all is a brass section that sneaks in behind your knees to lift your feet. Despite all the instruments on stage it’s actually very musical and you don’t see enough tubas on stage these days! Plus they have the old fella that’s one up on Gogol!
