The Human League brought a bit of nostalgia to this years V Festival, and despite being one of the oldest bands on the line up, I imagine most of the audience weren't even born when The Human League were on top of their game in the '80s.

However despite the generation difference, Human League wasted no time in getting the audience into that synth-pop frame of mind. Armed with songs such as 'Fascination' and 'Mirror Man', as well as 'Tell Me When', there was no way that Phil Oakey and crew could possibly fail to impress.

As with all good things, time seems to fly by at supersonic speed, and before we had time to realise how much we enjoyed the performance, the words to 'Don't You Want Me' were being belted out and bringing back all those nice memories for people like me who were old enough to remember them the first time around. Then as a grand finale, the incredible opening notes to 'Electric Dreams' reverberated around the tent to a volcanic round of applause.

Quite possibly the best band at V Festival 2009.
