Scissor Sisters

V Festival (Chelmsford) 2005 review

By Luke Seagrave | Published:

The Scissor Sisters are one of those acts that I have never been able to figure out why they have become so popular, so it was out of curiosity that I decided to make my way to the main stage to catch this act that are according to V festival organisers worthy of a headlining slot.

Just peeking out of the side of the curtain which was covering the stage, there was one of those 70’s disco balls, this was beginning to look like it could be one of the most cheesiest acts that we would ever get to see perform on the main stage.

Thankfully despite the stage set looking like an old fashioned discotheque, both Jake Shears (vocalist) and Ana Matronic (female vocals) were able to amaze the audience with their incredible vocal strength, which was crystal clear and an absolute pleasure to listen to.

With so many great tunes it was hard to find one that didn’t go down well with the audience. Each track was lapped up by the audience as if this was the best thing since sliced bread.

Not only were the vocals impressive but the stage design and lighting enhanced the performance and elevated it to a new level, which only the best of the best bands ever manage to accomplish.

Were they worthy of being an headline act? Hell Yeah!!
