Set in picturesque Hylands Park in Chelmsford (and not Cheltenham as Skin would have you believe), it's probably the most scenic festival site in the UK.

The weather was hotter than the burning oil fields of Iraq, everyone was sweating like a haemophiliac in a razor factory. The irony was that the drinks which were definitely a necessity were extortionately priced. So after ringing my bank up for a loan to cover the cost of drinks, I managed to stop dehydrating.

Although on paper the line-up was amazing, a lot of them were just going through the motions when they were on stage; the words "very very average" sum up the majority of the bands - even some of the biggest names - as well as most of newer bands championed by NME over the last year or so. The greatest surprises of the weekend were the live performances of Moloko and The Distillers, both absolutely fantastic.
