V Festival (Chelmsford) review

By Luke Seagrave | Published:

After knocking back loads of beer and being cremated in the blazing hot sun, it was going to take an awesome band to get the audience to stand up and pay attention. So which band would be so bold as to even attempt to awake the drunken lethargic, cant-be-arsed-to-move crowd. Step forward Ash...

‘Do you remember the time I knew a girl from mars? I don’t know if you knew that’ rang out across the sea of lobster red people that had been praying all day for a decent band to play. At last the great lord Wheeler had come to answer their prayers.

Armed with his flying v guitar, gifted with a mighty fine angelic female by his side they demonstrated that you don’t need a headlining slot to be impressive, just infectious melodies and great songs. The setlist consisted of greatest hits, yes I know its hard to believe but at their young age they have so many great hits that it is almost enough to make you realise that you have wasted your tender years.

If I was to place bets on which band would be headlining next year, then I’d put a huge amount of money on these!!
