Flaming Lips

V2000 (Chelmsford) reviews

By Skye Hi | Published:

Saw Flaming Lips in the JJB arena where we were in early to ensure we didn't miss Underworld after.

Their music sounded very theatrical and dramatic but nothing we could really dance to. They gently rocked us with loads of drums and guitar and the odd, slightly out, voice of the singer which was unusual. This band wanted to be watched and listened to and so a huge unmoving crowd stood and watched.

The band seemed pleased with the audience response and thanked us 'a bunch for coming and supporting them' before finishing with the very peculiar choice of 'Over the Rainbow' (Wizard of Oz) sung in that slow croaky voice with little backing. - Different!
