The Tears

T in the Park 2005 reviews

By eFestivals Newsroom | Published:

(X-Tent, Sunday)

Let's face it. The Tears sound like Suede. A lot like Suede. They have the same guitarist and vocalist as Suede, and use the same formulae in their songs as Suede.

This is why it's an incredible joy to see the Tears on such a small stage. First standout track and latest single "Lovers" is highly anthemic, and "Ghost Of You" is one of the sets most beautiful moments.

Brett is as lively as ever, and Bernard Butler is surely one of the most under-rated guitarists of all time. Every note he plays is perfect, and complements Brett Andersons vocals perfectly.

The crowd naturally lap it up, bowing down to Brett, chanting for Bernard, and when the opening bars of "Refugees" hits, it's an incredible moment.

The only fault about this set was the crowd - those who were there were incredible, but I should not have been able to walk in ten minutes before the start and get straight to the front.

Closing number "Two Creatures" ends a great performance by the Tears and a great T in the Park 2005. See you all next year.
