T in the Park 2005 reviews

(Futures Stage, Saturday)

Being up against Keane, The Streets and Doves does not help if you are trying to draw in a crowd, and the Editors fail to fill the Futures stage. There must have been around 1,000 - 1,500 in the 2,000 capacity tent, but those who were there saw an excellent set.

New single "Blood" sounds very good in the setting, and their Bloc Party meets the Killers meets Placebo art-rock sounds impressive.

The stage presence that the band shows is incredible for such a young group, their vocals are faultless and crisp, musically they are very tight.

The stand-out song from the whole set, "Munich", shows that once this band has some more material, great things are destined for them. Where Bloc Party have a slight feeling of being uncompromising in their approach to songwriting, the Editors are instantly likeable, and had they got there first, maybe they'd have played the R1/NME stage rather than the Futures tent.
