Franz Ferdinand

T in the Park2004 review

By Guy Powell | Published:

If you’re Scottish and somewhere in the vicinity of Balado then there is a good chance that you’re standing in front of the main stage ready for Scot-rockers Franz Ferdinand on this Sunday afternoon.

Flags-a-plenty are flying and within a couple of minutes of the start of the set the only thing to be seen is a crowd of people as far as the eye can see. It’s later revealed that more people turned up for Franz Ferdinand than The Darkness.

Franz Ferdinand

With some recent hits and a lot of national pride it is ensured that a performance not to be missed is given. It’s evident that Alexander and the rest of the band are all happy to be here – talking to the crowd and smiling as they hear their fellow country men (and women) cheering with pride.

Elsewhere this set had a good chance of being distinctly average but there’s no chance the Scots were going to let that happen, and no chance that Franz Ferdinand were going to let the country down.
