Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival reviews

By Matthew Shaw | Published:

Moved up the bill on the day of their performance, Dundee’s The View are riding a gigantic wave of publicity, their latest single charts in the top 20 the day after their performance, and they are all over the major radio stations in the country. Not bad for a band named after a pub they were banned from after riding a scooter along the bar.

The tent is jam-packed for the tent, and many people have to make do with watching from outside. The band all seem very young, and don’t look old enough to be out of school, never mind playing a tour of festivals!

The music itself is still a little disappointing, like a poor centre-ground of the Libertines and Kings of Leon, however, “Wasted Little DJs” is a behemothic song, ringing out proudly and getting the entire crowd singing along.

Kyle, their lead singer, promises to be a half decent front man, however he still needs to learn to perform to the crowd a little more, and he admits to having had “a few beers” the second time he messes up the setlist, something which should have been controlled so there are as few mistakes as possible.

It’s difficult to tell what the View will turn out like – if they can write more songs like the single, they could be huge. If they can’t, then they’ll not be even close to fulfilling their potential, and that would be a real shame.
