I went to the Carling stage with the intention of watching the Mystery Jets but it’s the sound of Bouncing Souls that draws me into the Lock Up instead. The tent is packed as usual and chanting between the New Jersey band’s brand of US pop punk. It’s melodic, it’s fast and it’s rather nice. I don’t know any of the songs and had never heard of them before, despite the fact they’ve been around 15 years and influenced bands like NOFX. But I liked what I heard and intend to give their new album The Gold Record a listen, as their set was great fun.
