Reading Festival 2006 reviews

By Scott Williams | Published:

I wasn’t intending to see this lot but I’m glad I did, the indie dub folk London boys are a very danceable band if you like ska. It seems there’s a few old folks watching and they’re lovin’ it too I wonder if they’re the band’s parents, as they seem very out of place here.

They throw glo-sticks out to the crowd who appear to still be the remnants of the earlier nu-rave crowd from Klaxons. The crowd are awash with whistles and the noise is rather off putting as there’s so many the PA is drowned out at times.

It’s a carnival atmosphere and I spot Radio 1 DJ Steve Lamacq in the crowd enjoying them too. The only let down is the overpowering smell of rank burning flesh emanating from somewhere outside the tent which smells disgusting. Guess the Reading fires are blazing already on this Sunday night.

I've no idea what any of the songs were but they were great to skank to. Off the back of this set I'm looking forwards to their debut album and on this performance many years of jigging about to them at festivals.
