Art-punk pantomime – who’d have thought it? Even the most violent hater of all things Mackem can’t fail to raise a smile at the cheese brilliance of dividing the crowd in half to sing the various vocal parts for ‘Hounds of Love’.

It’s about as universally fun as “He’s behind you!” or “Oh no he isn’t!” and the predictable high point in a set that shows just how far they’ve come since last year’s early morning slot in the same tent last year. Whether or not they’ll be able to manage another crossover hit as big as THAT song remains to be seen, but by the time the band are introducing each other Franz-style during set-closer ‘Piece of Crap’, most people are having too much fun to care.
